Statistics about sexual violence vary due to how data is collected and the low rate of report. However, it is estimated that one in six women (16%) and one in thirty three men (3%) will be sexually assualted at some point in their lives (U.S. Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey 2006). Even at these staggering percentages, the data may greatly underestimate the true magnitude of the problem. If you are a survivor of sexual assualt, you are not alone.
Individual Sessions:
Sexual trauma counseling should always be conducted in an environment where you feel safe, accepted, and respected. Dr. Reichenbach believes the pace of sexual trauma therapy should be guided by the client, and the therapist should never push them in any direction. She will help you evaluate your boundaries, interpersonal relationships, and coping strategies used to survive. Together with Dr. Reichenbach, you can process through your trauma and regain a sense of safety and pride in your strength as a survivor.
