Eating disorders are characterized by disturbances in eating behavior, such as unhealthy reduction of food intake, purging, or extreme overeating.
Many people with eating disorders suffer from overwhelming feelings of inadequacy and insecurity, obsessive thoughts and preoccupation with food, and intense dissatisfaction with the way they look. Eating disorders often result in serious and life threatening medical complications. Hospital based care, intensive outpatient, and/or residential care may be necessary.
Dr. Reichenbach is available for assessment, treatment recommendations, and individual therapy. If individual therapy is determined to be the appropriate level of care, she will collaborate with you to develop a customized treatment plan to address your unique needs.
Her approach to eating disorders is guided by the belief that disordered eating is merely the observable behavior representing deeper underlying issues. Since family pressures and interpersonal difficulties are often associated with eating disorders, family and marital therapy can be incorporated into treatment.
